Taking propolis can have a supportive effect. The natural antioxidants it contains help to intercept and neutralize free radicals. This process helps to promote general well-being. We recommend regular use so that the antioxidants in propolis can be optimally absorbed by the body. In addition, propolis can make a preventative contribution to health promotion.

The bees use propolis mainly for their hive, which serves as their protection. The propolis is primarily applied to the opening of the entrance, where it acts as a kind of protective cover against bacteria, fungi and germs and thus has antibacterial, disinfectant and antiseptic properties, which are attributed to the polyphenol and flavonoid content (secondary plant substances).

What can I do with a propolis tincture?

You can use the tincture for internal and external use. It all depends on what your complaint is and how you can best dose the propolis for yourself.

When taking and using the tincture, a distinction is made between internal and external use.

An internal application option is, for example, in the form of a mouthwash with propolis. You can add a few drops of propolis to a glass of water and gargle. The antibacterial effect contained in propolis neutralizes the oral flora and thus the bad breath. Another option is to add a few drops of propolis to toothpaste and brush your teeth with it, which can promote oral and dental hygiene. For oral care, you can also drizzle a spoonful of honey with a few drops of propolis and let it melt in your mouth.

If you want to "spice up" your tea with propolis powder/capsules (food supplement), you must wait until the tea is no longer hot. This is because the chemical compounds of propolis dissolve at high temperatures and therefore lose their effect.

You can also use the propolis tincture for solid foods by adding the drops to a sandwich or honey. The water-soluble and alcohol-free propolis can be mixed with water or orange juice, it dissolves easily and is particularly suitable for children and animals.

The external application options mainly relate to supporting the skin. Depending on the complaint, the propolis can be applied to the targeted area. Here too, the recommendation should not be exceeded (see the label). Propolis drops can help with the regeneration of neurodermatitis, eczema, wounds and other skin complaints. Skin impurities can be brought under control by the substances it contains. You can also incorporate propolis into your daily skin care routine by adding a few drops of your propolis tincture into your cream and allow it to absorb well into the skin.

If you want to use a kind of "propolis plaster", you can put a few drops of the propolis tincture on a plaster or a piece of cotton and then stick it to the intended area of skin. This prevents smearing.

It is important to note that when applying the propolis tincture, it is necessary to clarify beforehand whether you have any allergies to bees or bee products. We therefore recommend carrying out a small allergy test:

To do this, put a few drops of propolis on the inside of your wrist and wait for about half an hour. If there is no redness, irritation or itching after this time, you can probably use propolis for yourself. For pregnant women, it is recommended to use the alcohol-free variant, propolis with distilled water (Propolis tincture with pipette alcohol-free & water-soluble). Nevertheless, we recommend consulting your doctor if you are unsure or have any concerns. Pregnant women in particular should take it under medical supervision.

How do I use the propolis tincture correctly?

The dosage plays a major role here and should be correct (you can find recommended dosages on our products) in order to achieve an effect. It is generally recommended to use the following rule of thumb every day:

1 drop of propolis per 10 kg of body weight spread over 2 intervals

Example:
My weight is 60 kg, so I need 6 drops of propolis a day. I can divide this into 2 x 3 drops. I take my first portion before breakfast. It is not a problem to take the "daily dose" all at once.

What can I use propolis for?

Studies have shown the effect of propolis on various ailments. For example, they found that it has an antibiotic effect against possible pathogenic bacteria. The studies also show that propolis can have an anti-inflammatory and wound-care effect, for which the propolis is applied to the desired area. The antioxidants contained in propolis are responsible for the antioxidant effect against free radicals. The bees use the propolis as putty resin in their hive and rely on these properties of the product.

Can it be used on children and animals?

As mentioned above, you can use our alcohol-free tincture or our mouth spray for your children or animals (dog, cat, etc.) without any concerns. Just check beforehand whether you have a possible allergy to bees or bee products.
